reclaiming connection with the body

Somatic is defined as “a relating to the body”, which can be used to define various forms of movement. In somatic movement, the intention is to focus on the internal experience rather than the external result. Our own internal experience begins to create a story which we can outwardly express through different postures and sounds. This gets to become a form of self-expression.

What if we look to the body as our own unique teacher? What if we can allow ourselves to play with different forms of self-expression through postures and words? What if we create space to allow this in others? What might change?

For many of us, experiencing disconnection from our bodies is the norm as we are stressed, dealing with body pain, burnt out and rushing in our daily lives. What if we practice living in co-creation with the body?

In this online workshop series, we’ll explore getting to know the body by building an intimate relationship with our own somatic cues and individual self-expression.

This is a space to dip your toes in if you’ve been desiring to learn more about somatics, want to cultivate a deeper connection with the body and add more tools to your own toolkit of embodiment.

Is it my intention that this space brings you into community, deepen into self-intimacy and continue to connect with the body.

This space is open to all.

What we’ll explore

Week 1: Opening call

Begin your journey with a warm and grounding space to connect with fellow participants. This opening call will center on sharing intentions, cultivating a sense of belonging, and setting the foundation for our embodied exploration together.


Week 2: Body attunement

Step into the foundational practice of attuning to your body. This week, we’ll explore how to create a sense of safety within, fostering awareness and presence as we take our first steps into embodied connection.


Week 3: consensual communication & boundaries

Discover the language of your body as we explore the dynamics of boundaries. This week, we’ll delve into recognizing and honoring what “yes” and “no” feel like physically, cultivating deeper awareness of consent and authentic communication.


Week 4: navigating conflict in the body

Dive into the rich terrain of polarity within. This week invites us to move beyond binary thinking and explore the nuanced messages of the body. Through this practice, we’ll reconnect with our innate wholeness and embrace the dynamic interplay of opposing forces.


Week 5: integration

Take a restorative pause to absorb and integrate the insights and practices from the past weeks. This week is dedicated to reflection, allowing the seeds of embodiment to take root and flourish.


Week 6: contact dance

Explore the art of embodied movement through contact dance. Guided by a guest teacher, this week we’ll delve into spirals within the body and our connection to the floor, cultivating a profound sense of flow and embodied presence.


Week 7: elemental work

Reconnect with the elements of nature as we explore our intrinsic relationship to the world around us. This week invites us to embody the understanding that we are not separate from nature but an integral part of its vast, living web.


Week 8: closing call & last movement practice

In our final gathering, we’ll honor the journey we’ve shared, reflecting on the growth and connections cultivated. Together, we’ll engage in a closing movement practice, celebrating the embodiment of all that we’ve explored.

Logistics

We meet once a week on Wednesday’s @ 7pm EST for 90-mins. The live gathering will include a teaching on our weekly theme, somatic practices, discussion and Q&A.

Our content for each week will be posted up in the portal.

We will also have a private WhatsApp group to connect outside of the calls.

It is best to take these calls in private where you have space to move and breathe.
